The Lakers take one the Sacramento Kings in the second game of a back-to-back tonight at 7:00 PM PT on TWC SportsNet. It also marks the second matchup of the season between the two sides, with the Lakers winning the first 103-90 back on November 11. Los Angeles eked out a victory at home last night over the Brooklyn Nets 89-85, and a win tonight would mean six wins in the last seven games. Sacramento (2-8) is struggling, and can’t seem to find a starting lineup that can produce. The Kings are led by second-year center Demarcus Cousins, who missed the last game with the Lakers because of a suspension. The Kings are not a high-scoring team, so transition defense won’t be as significant tonight as it was against Brooklyn. Los Angeles should score over 100 points, and should head to Memphis Friday with a 7-5 record.

Probable Starters

#15 World Peace             SF          #5 Salmons

#16 Gasol           PF          #34 Thompson

#12 Howard       C            #15 Cousins

#24 Bryant         SG         #13 Evans

#1 Morris            PG         #3 Brooks

Key Matchup – Pau Gasol/Dwight Howard vs. Demarcus Cousins

Cousins averaged 18 points and 9.7 rebound in the Kings’ three preseason games with the Lakers. He will see time against both Gasol and Howard. Cousins has admitted that he tries to model his game after Gasol’s so the matchup has always been intense. He is a very strong big man, and has a variety of back-to-the-basket moves. Gasol has always been knocked for being soft, and matchups with players like Cousins give him an opportunity to prove his naysayers wrong. Howard had a great game the last time he saw Sacramento, putting up 23 points and 18 boards, so expect another big performance from Howard.
