Pau Gasol, power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, has missed the past nine games since tearing his plantar fascia in February 5th’s win in Brooklyn.

Gasol was examined by Lakers consultant Dr. Steven Yoon yesterday and has been cleared to use the Precor machine to continue his rehabilitation. Dr. Yoon conducted an ultrasound test which revealed the healing process has been progressing as scheduled.

Despite the good news, coach Mike D’Antoni told the media earlier this week that he doesn’t expect Gasol to return to action until the playoffs.

"I think by the time he gets back we'll either be in or out. So his impact will be in the playoffs if we can get there," said D'Antoni.

Los Angeles is off on Wednesday, but they will return to the court on Thursday night at Staples Center against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers could potentially gain a half game in the chase for the eight spot in the West, as both the Utah Jazz (vs. Atlanta) and the Houston Rockets (vs. Milwaukee) are in action tonight.
